Arrived in Austria!

Hello from Vienna, Austria friends! Jayde and I had a wonderful sleep in at our B&B can't wait to start exploring our newest home for a week!

Our trip to the Cairo airport was very uneventful, thankfully! We called a taxi about 4 hours before our flight was to depart and it arrived promptly at 12pm. From there it was the shortest and least congested drive since we've been in Egypt (this is due to Eid, a week-long sacrificial celebration holiday). We didn't even have to slow down though the checkpoint!

Upon arriving at the airport we walked through a single metal detector, "security", which Jayde carried her phone and a shaving razed through- what?! That's just Egypt for you! ;) We then hopped in line to get our tickets issued (only a short 10ish minute wait) and then proceeded to passport control. Jayde and I both checked our suitcases, even though they were little due to weight limits and convenience. Since we arrived at the airport so early and bad a direct flight, we weren't worried about losing our luggage.

We waited for our Canadian friends to make it through the same process and then say for a bit at Burger King (so began the vacation "diet", haha). I then grabbed some Haagen Das coffee ice cream and Jayde and I made our way to our gate. There we had to go through "real" security by taking off our shoes and disposing of our liquids. We waited for about a half hour before boarding the plane and found ourselves next to a nice, but chatty, woman from the UK. For most of the flight Jayde and I listened to our respective music, and before we knew it we were starting our descent into Vienna!

Upon landing we quickly made our way through customs and grabbed our luggage before exchanging our USD for euros. Unfortunately, we got very bad rates and were a tad unhappy, but it was our only option as we couldn't do it in Egypt before we left and needed money for train tickets.

We used a ticket machine and figured out the lines and plopped down in the waiting area to catch our train into the city center, which took about 40 minutes. We then had to find a tram to take us a couple of stops, but Jayde and I both had to put on our jackets because we were too chilly to walk!!! How exciting! :) We found our tram, found the B&B, and trekked up about 6 flights of stairs to collapse into blissful comfort and speedy wifi :)

Wish us luck as we begin our first day of exploring!
