Last Adventure in Vienna

After a slow-starting morning (thanks sickly stomach), Jayde and I started off to hit the last major attraction on our trip, the biggest underground lake in Europe! We had a little difficulty getting to the correct train station as two different ones had the name Meidling in them... Oh well! A nice lady at the Tabak store sent us along in the right direction! We took a short 15 minute train ride south of Vienna to the city of Mödling.

Unfortunately, our only mode of transportation to get to the underground lake was the bus. Jayde and I have not had the best luck with the busses in Austria, and this was no different. We had to wait almost 25 minutes as the bus only comes twice an hour, and we arrived just after 12pm. Once on the bus, we carefully watched the stop list to see where we needed to get off. We should have clued in when a group of Asian tourists hopped off the bus, but the stop name didn't match so we took a chance and stayed on. After two more stops (in the wrong direction), I asked the driver and he angrily told me "two sops ago!!" Well since the name didn't match we just didn't argue and got off to backtrack on foot. We found a nice lady walking her dog who have us directions.

We finally arrived at Seegrotte, the underground lake. We grabbed a little snack before going on the 30 minute tour. Here are some of the highlights!

After a quick bus ride back to the station we made our way back to the Westbahnhof trains station to do a little shoe shopping and buy some groceries. I found the most adorable pair of Oxfords and stocked up on about a million gluten free items to bring back to Egypt. Jayde and I then headed back to our flat where we packed up our suitcases and watched the newest Gatsby movie. It was a low key night as we planned to wake up at 6am the next day to head to the airport.
